City of Sadieville
On the old Cincinnati Southern line

More than a
small town
in Kentucky.

Three hundred neighbors, one main street, and a depot still painted in the colors of the railroad that built it. Sadieville keeps the lights on, the agendas posted, and the caboose lit through December.

Sadieville Depot · Cincinnati Southern Railway · ca. 1908
Founded 1880

The town the railroad made, and the town that kept it.

Sadieville was platted in 1879 where the Cincinnati Southern Railway crossed the headwaters of Eagle Creek, and named for Sadie Pack, the eight-year-old daughter of the landowner who signed the right-of-way. The depot opened the next year; the first post office followed in 1880; incorporation came in 1894.

The railroad is long gone, but its building still stands, repainted, reroofed, and now serving as City Hall. The Southern X589 caboose two blocks away is the last piece of rolling stock the town owns, and on every December weekend it is strung with garland and opened for visits with Santa.
